Getting warmer: a field trial of heat pumps

A field trial was undertaken by the Energy Saving Trust in the UK to determine the key factors which impact the performance of domestic-scale heat pumps in-situ.

The trial included technical parameters (such as system sizing and installation) and customer feedback & behaviour.
Instead of revealing outcomes along statistical grounds, or acting as a “brand-vs-brand” competition, the field trial findings provide a discussion of key points of interest to potential consumers.
The findings provide valuable information about the factors that affect the success of a domestic heat pump installation.
Some interesting reading.
.... Ground source the payback .... 29 years ... when compared with new oil .... and air source heat pump are 16 years ... compared with new oil .... see page 19 of PDF link below...
